Shortly after my post recommending deletion of the Jetpack plugin, I received an email from Matt Mullenweg, in which he explained the why and how of Jetpack. While he presented his points well, I still steadfastly believe that making all 11 aspects of the Jetpack plugin set opt-out rather than opt-in was a grave tactical error. Hey, everyone. Doc asked me to write a post introducing myself to our readers and friends. This is hard. I hate writing bios, putting myself out there. This is actually the 2ndversion. I had two friends read the first attempt and they thought it was too tame and lacking the full “Lisa” effect. My husband, on the other hand, thought it was wholly inappropriate, especially the part about my butt later. Yes, I mention my butt. I am *nothing* if not professional. If you’re like most, you used the WordPress Stats plugin, which gave real time visit and referral data for your site. Then a short while back, Automattic announced that WordPress.com Stats would shortly be discontinued, and that you’d only be able to see that data if you installed Jetpack. [Read more…]

Poor Ashton Kutcher! He did something that most of us have done, at one time or another… he made a statement based upon partial information. He heard Joe Paterno, long time coach of his favorite team, had been given the axe, and he tweeted this faux pas: Kutcher's TweetNaturally, since Twitter was already trending on Paterno’s having been fired from Penn. State, the vast majority of which was coming from people condemning those that would defend Joe, the blood-hungry mob turned quickly. [Read more…]
